MINNEAPOLIS - The compound triclosan is found in much anti-bacterial soap, cosmetics and toothpastes, but it's presence could be at a cost to the environment.

University of Minnesota scientists have now found it in Minnesota waters and at increasing amounts. The discovery has some researchers worried.

Researchers say those anti-bacterial soaps that we think get us cleaner are actually be polluting our lakes and rivers. That's according to a new University of Minnesota study published in the journal Environmental Science and Technology.

It says the active ingredient in those soaps, triclosan, is building up in lake sediment.

This last weekend, I was able to be a vendor for the CNY Pride Festival.  It was a long drive to get there, was an extremely HOT day, and I was more than happy to get home.

BUT

I met some wonderful, kind hearted people, and even had customers (not other vendors, or show organizers) help me load up my car because I was alone..  so that right there makes me want to go back next year..

I don't know these women's names, but I wanted to take a minute to thank them, as their helpfulness really made my day!

Years past, I would not sleep through the night because of the kids, and I expect some time in the future, I will be up several times a night to pee.. BUT I am in that lovely "quiet" period in my life where I regularly get to sleep through the night without interruption.

Last night though..

Our cat Kyle was outside, even though I called him before we went to bed.

About 1:30am, the dogs were making a terrible ruckus, and I couldn't figure out why, so I got up to check and see if maybe our daughter was coming...

I am sitting in the expo center for the conference, charging electronics..

"Make it Matter".  This is the slogan for hp's IT conference this year.  If you are going to do something, make it matter.

What a thought..How many of us find ourselves doing things throughout the day that we don't think  matter, to others and definitely ourselves..

So, why do we continue to do them..??

• Because we always have?
• Because someone asked a while ago? 
• Because we are filling our time? 

Wouldn't your life be more fulfilling if everything you did mattered?  I LOVE this slogan..
